The city of Kolkata is renowned for its rich culture. The name itself is synonymous with the fields of art, theatre, music, painting, dance and good movies. It is a common idea that cultured people reside in this city. Given all these reasons, women prefer to stay in Kolkata. Young female professionals are investing in the apartments built in Kolkata. They are buying apartments built near the IT zone of Kolkata. 

Safety: The young women are selecting Kolkata as their residence as they feel safer here than cities like New Delhi or Bengaluru. What encourages young women to buy apartments in Kolkata is a safe neighbourhood. They prefer to buy an apartment where upscale, educated people stay so that being alone (if they are) would not be an issue! Compared to this, the average price of a 2 BHK apartment in Noida and Pune starts from Rs 23 Lakhs onwards. 

Affordable apartments are being built by reputed real estate builders in Kolkata giving a push to the agenda of the national government. The state government of West Bengal is also keen in developing affordable apartments. The state government is encouraging public-private partnership for the construction of affordable housings.  
  

Proximity to IT Zone: In the past 5 years some satellite townships have been developed near Kolkata. Take for example the Rajarhat and New Town satellite townships which are already showing signs of the immense potential of growth in the likeness of Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad surrounding the national capital region of Delhi. Rajarhat and New Town have made their names in the list of Smart Cities in India. Young women, especially the IT professionals are keen to buy flats in Rajarhat or New Town because of its proximity to the SEZ areas of Eco Space and Unitech. Apart from that, Rajarhat and New Town are located very near to the IT Zone of Salt Lake Sector-5 area. It takes hardly half an hour to reach the office.  

Good Amenities: The buyers of real estate properties have no inhibition in paying extra money for the amenities. With many young women professionals earning good salaries, they are buying apartments having a number of amenities. Certainly, the demand for such apartments with amenities are increasing. Seeing the craze, the real estate developers are adding them with their housing projects. For example, the amenities that are popular with the buyers are landscaped gardens, swimming pool, gym and club house. Apart from these secondary amenities, the builders are including primary amenities like 24*7 power supply, security installations, fire security, provisions of car parking and community hall to take care of the comfort of apartment owners.    

Public Infrastructure: The quality of public infrastructure has been improving in Kolkata. The conditions of roadways and highways are improving. After the commencement of E-W Metro Rail, Howrah (one of the primary business districts of Kolkata) will be connected with the Salt Lake and Rajarhat-New Town areas of Kolkata. It will help facilitate the movement across the city and reduce the time significantly. The city is well-connected with roads, flyovers and bypass roads.
